Lunch Time
All children who stay for lunch at both Crosfield and Selhurst, do so in a designated space in which they are able to share their lunch alongside their friends, with support from adults.
Staff who join children at lunch time, eat alongside them, and encourage them to develop independence through modelling specific skills (such as opening packets, using cutlery, clearing away plates etc.) Staff also engage children in conversations and use this opportunity to develop relationships and communication skills.
Information on what makes a healthy packed lunch, alongside guidance of items which are not permitted, can be found in the healthy lunch leaflet below.
The NHS Healthier Families website also contains some useful information on what makes a healthy lunchbox.
